Lakeside Park5Roosevelt Park1

1 Roosevelt Park:
Our local favorite launch. Located in a county park, windsurfers and kiters launch from the north end of the park, down  concrete stairs into the water. Water is knee to waist deep for a hundred yards with sandy bottom, so water launching and landing is good. We are working on removing some trees to improve shore launches. Has flushing toilets Spring thru Fall. Best for WSW to N. Also A good winter launch. Conditions permitting, you can drive onto the ice from a ramp at the South end of the Park next to the small marina. Wind Power Windsurfing and Kitesurfing Center is located across the street as well as Sunset supper club and Kens Retreat Bar. It just doesn’t get any better than this on Winnebago.

2. Wind Power:
Owned and operated by Kevin Gratton, This is a full service kiting and windsuring Shop with great service. Kevin or Mary can help with anything from repairs to complete rigs. Windsurfing lesson are available with kiting instruction coming soon.  Corona's always on special!! Windpower's Official Site

3. Fishermans Road Landing:  Located on the east shore about 5 miles up from the south end of the lake. Take Hwy 151 north about 7 miles from hwy 23. You’ll see Fisherman’s Cove restaurant on the left. Turn left after the restaurant at Fishermans Road. Follow the road to the Lake. Grassy/Gravel at the North edge of the Landing. Shallow water out to the end of the breakwall. Not a lot of clearance for big kites, but it gets you to the water. Good spot for a take out for downwinders from Roosevelt park  or Club Altmeyer on a SW. This is Also one of the favorite winter launches due to the Local Fishing club maintaining a road and parking thru the winter. The annual Sturgeon Stampede and Snow Kite Extravaganza is held off this location the second weekend of February. Best for SW or NW winds in water. Winter is good S to N

4. The Wayside:  Located on the West Shore Of Winnebago, The wayside is a County Park with a small shallow boat launch. Take Hwy 45 about 7 miles north of Scott Street. On the right side. Has toilets Spring thru Fall. Rig in Grassy area north of the turn around circle near the boat launch. Launch kites from the North side of the breakwall. Very Shallow water for 100-150 yds. Some rocks on the bottom so watch your fins. Good for S to NE winds.

5. Lakeside Park: (Stinky Point) Located at the West edge of Lakeside Park at the South end of the Lake. Take Main St North into the Park. Turn left near the water and follow the lakeshore road approx 1/3 mile Rig on West end of grassy Field. The Shore is rocky, but shallow Water and sandy bottom make for good water launches. Great for downwinders to Roosevelt park on a SW wind. Wind is a little choppy near shore. Best for SW to West.

6. Club Altmeyer:  Located on the East Shore of The Lake, This Private Launch offers everything a kiter on Winnebago could ask for. Huge grassy launch with two beachs for access. A beautiful point (Kite Point) is awesome for beach launches and landings. Hot tub and cold beers follow every session at Club Altmeyer. This is a Members Only launch with Don Altmeyer issuing the memberships. This is strictly enforced by the security duck always on patrol!!
