Lessons / Gear

With  kiteboarding, as with any extreme sport, it is always advisable to take lessons. You will learn safety, the basics of the sport and gear, and progress much faster and safer than if you try it on your own. While learning from the pros, they can also assist you with gear selection and great deals.

Two of the best resources in the area are:

Wind Power’s instruction for kiteboarding and windsurfing are superb.  Kevin has been teaching for almost 30 years and many of the Lake Winnebago kiteboarders have learned the sport and safety aspects through Wind Power.  Lessons typically include use of Wind Power’s kites / boards if you do not own a kite yet or conditions warrant use of different equipment.  Learning Kiteboarding can be done anytime of year (water or ice), but learning in Winter (typically between Dec 15 thru Mar 30) is the best time to learn how to fly the kite before you hit the soft-water come spring time.
